The other day, we wanted to add a new spin to the classic game of memory. So we combined two things the girls really like when it's too rainy to go outside - coloring and playing memory. I also added a playful way to train every child's articulation by choosing a template showing items that are difficult to pronounce.

I printed out one of the many templates you can find on the internet. I chose a special template from a site for speech therapy to playfully train the more difficult sounds that a letter makes. These are called phonemes. These are for German pronunciation but they make a nice memory game template even if not used for speech therapy.

It's not just girly stuff to color things in. Uncles, dads and grandpas can help as well and show their creative side. We all helped to color in the pairs as we liked.

The girls named what they wanted to color ....

The older one especially was very precise with using the exact same colors for the two parts of the match.

man_memoryThen I cut out the pieces as circles are still a bit too difficult for them. If you want your kids to cut it out independently you might want to search for templates with squares instead of circles.

man_memory_playFinally, we could play with our individual memory game. I recommend glueing a colorful paper on the back before cutting the pieces. It was fairly easy to see through the white paper, but I think this time, it was even more fun for her as she was sure to win the game.
