If you've been anywhere near Pinterest in the last few years, you'll have seen some of these fun teepee hideouts for kids. 
With a few little kids running around, we thought this would make a great present but the price was a little more than I was thinking of. So we took a few dimensions and estimations about the size we wanted and got to work!
This whole project cost us nothing since we used supplies we already had around the house. To buy would still be only about 1/3 or less of the cost of a teepee in the store which can run from $50-150 depending on the dimensions. Ours was the perfect height for a growing, almost 3 year old!
- First we measures four PVC pipes and cut them to 64 inch pieces. We drill holes 8 inches from the top straight through.
- I cut pieces of fabric of the whole large triangle and 4 additional strips about 54'' long and 4'' wide. On the fourth triangle, you can cut a line halfway up to make your doorway. Hem if you've like.
- Sew the four triangles with right sides together. Sew the strips to the inner seams to make a sleeve.
- We put rubberized feet on the bottoms of the pipes to keep them from slipping and to add stability.
- Then just insert the PVC into the sleeves and tie the tops together with twine.
Really simple! This took under 2 hours with the family pitching in and the girls love it. It's the new hideaway!
Of course you can be more exact with the hems and paint the pipe before hand if you want but if you're running short on time, your kids probably won't care either way.

I love the idea of making our own tips and picking out a fabric that excites my kids. Great idea!! I love the tip about the rubberized feet too. I wouldn’t have thought of that till it had already scooted all over my floor!
