In times of tablets, computers, cell phones and TV with all their apps and shows, it can be hard to get your kids outside, let alone doing sports. Some kids naturally want to run and jump all over the place, others might need a little encouragement. When the playground is too far away or it looks like it might rain soon, I am always a great fan of taking a walk through the backyard. There, we built a dog agility obstacle course from simple materials that you find in every building supplies store.

The other day, we turned our two dogs into personal trainers for our nieces.

dog sportBoth our dogs, Ellie and Dobby, went to dog school and are great with kids. They especially love the kids from "our pack". In dog school, they learned how to jump over hurdles, do the slalom and react to our voice commands. Ellie and Dobby showed what they can do and we encouraged the girls to follow their lead. All six of us ran through the backyard, taking hurdles, crawling through holes and doing the slalom. It was huge fun for all of us and also a great exercise and coordination training. The dogs are definitely the fittest and most talented among us!
