valentine heart tree craft for valentine

With Valentine’s Day approaching I was looking for a way for our family to celebrate the holiday by remembering what’s most important to us, the people we love. Here is our tree in a vase that is growing hearts and pictures of our family in place of flowers.

We first gathered sticks from the yard. You decide the size depending on how much room you can afford for your tree. Stretch your legs and take a breath of that February air.

Depending on the age of your children, have them cut out hearts freehand or trace a pattern.

Use a hole punch and string to hang your hearts. We used clear fishing line.

Arrange your sticks in a vase or jar.

If you want, have your kids write a special note or name those they love most on the hearts before hanging them on the tree.

In the end, we decided to add pictures of our family and other things that remind us of love. Feel free to add your own special touch to your version of the blooming heart tree!
