Christmas is not only the time of love and family; it’s also the time when the big old man with the long white beard makes children behave like little angles.

But what if they start doubting the existence of Santa?

Here are some original answers for tricky questions that your young ones might ask around Christmas. If you want to keep up with the magic just a little longer, this is what you can say.

Why don’t I wake up when he comes into my room or through the chimney?

Santa can be very, very quiet – he has many years of experience … and a little magic. He walks around squeaky toys, sneaks almost silently through creaking doors or over groaning floorboards and even tiptoes past your sleeping dogs and cats without them waking up. The only thing some children claim to have heard are the sleigh bells ringing in the distance after he’s gone.

How does Santa get down the chimney?

Santa uses magic to fit through the chimney – no matter the size. I am not entirely sure how he does it, it either makes him and the present very small for a short time or it makes him squeezy … Don’t worry, he’ll always find a way to get in and leave your presents.

What if I don’t have a chimney?

No problem, Santa knows that not everybody has his traditional way in in their house or flat. He’ll always find a way to leave your presents in the house because his chimney magic also works on windows, doors and even some pipes.

How can you tell which one is the real Santa if you see lots of Santas in shopping malls or on the streets?

November and December are incredibly busy months for Santa, so he sends out a team of helpers that look just like him. Sometimes it’s the real Santa, sometimes it’s one of his helpers, but it’s really very difficult to tell. Don’t worry though, because they report back to him on everything they see or hear.

How does Santa manage to eat a little bit of milk and biscuits in every house?

Well, haven’t you seen his belly? Santa really likes his cookies. He’s very grateful for every family who leaves him a little snack, especially since he has to deliver the presents around the whole world. He’s also caring about his hard-working Elves back home and so he sometimes takes the cookies he likes the most to give them some as well.

Does Rudolph really eats all these carrots everyone leaves for him?

Not just Rudolph, all the other reindeers on Santa’s sleigh enjoy the carrots you leave out as well. They have a huge journey during Christmas time and need their energy so they are very grateful if you leave them a little something. Plus, carrots are very good for the eyes and even better for Rudolph’s nose. They help them to find their way through the night.

What does Santa do for the rest of the year?

Right after Christmas, he treats himself to a few days off. But then, the planning, stock-taking and toy making starts again. And of course, he always has an eye on all the children on the world, making sure they are good so that they earn their presents next year.

If I want to write Santa, where should I send my letter?

The address depends on the country your writing from because Santa has a special system to get all the letters sorted out quickly. Look into the newspaper or ask at your local post office, they’ll have the address for sure. It may take some time, but Santa will respond to as many letters as possible, in between getting the sleigh ready for the long journey on Christmas Eve. You can also send your letters up your own chimney or leave them out by the side of the fireplace. Santa goes to great lengths to make sure he knows what every girl and boy wants for Christmas and will do his best to deliver it.

Does he actually read all the letters and will I get a reply?

Yes, he really reads every letter and he does try to reply if you include your address and a stamp and send your letter before the 6th of December. After that, he’s too busy getting ready. Don’t worry if you don’t hear back though. He always tries to make your wishes come true.

How can Santa get around the world in just one night?

That’s a very good question. You see, the different countries have different Christmas traditions. For example, in Germany the kids already get their presents on the evening of the 24th. Then of course, you have to consider the different time zones. So Santa actually has quite some time to get around the world and deliver all the presents in time, and he also has a little magic …
