How to make snow with kids

Now that winter is officially here I’m ready for some snow! I love snow but usually only for the first time every winter. I only like it when it’s pretty and white and when I can stay inside and look at it from my window while sipping hot cocoa. Then I saw this cute indoor snow experiment and had to try it for myself. Snow. Inside. The best of both worlds. All you need is a can of shaving cream and baking soda. This is some slushy business kids will love to get their hands into!

I used a plastic lid to keep the ingredients together in case we got too excited and started throwing snow balls around the house. Put a good amount of baking soda down first. It really depends on you to how much you want to use. And then comes the shaving cream. The more you use the better as the baking soda does soak it up.

Then, have at it! Mixing it together is the fun part and can be a great way to entertain your younger (and maybe older) kids for a long time.

While it’s not quite the cold, wet experience I remember, the ‘snow’ does stick together and makes an great snowball! With some odds and ends from around the house, you can have your kids playing out a whole winter scene right on your kitchen table.

This was such a fun way to experience winter without leaving the house. And I bet it would be just as fun on a hot summer day when you’re dreaming of the snow again!
